Saudi-based Ajdan Real Estate Development Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with King Salman International Airport during the Public Investment Fund & Private Sector Forum, marking a new step toward integrated mixed-use and commercial development within the airport’s masterplan.
The agreement sets a strategic framework for collaboration between the two entities, with a focus on exploring opportunities across mixed-use real estate and commercial projects designed to enhance quality, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulmohsen Al-Otaibi, CEO of Ajdan, and Dr Mohammed Al-Jarallah, Deputy Chief Executive for Real Estate Development at King Salman International Airport. The partnership is expected to pave the way for long-term cooperation on several flagship developments within the airport’s expansive site.
Under the agreement, Ajdan will collaborate on the planning, design, and management of integrated commercial destinations and mixed-use spaces within the airport precinct. The developer aims to leverage its expertise in delivering sustainable, high-quality urban projects that align with the kingdom’s broader development ambitions.
King Salman International Airport stands among Saudi Arabia’s largest strategic infrastructure projects, spanning approximately 57 square kilometres. Of this, around 12 square kilometres are allocated for mixed-use real estate development, alongside fully integrated economic and logistics zones covering more than 3 million square metres. The project is designed to integrate commercial, service, and real estate functions into a cohesive urban ecosystem.
The airport targets handling 100 million passengers annually by 2030, supported by major upgrades to infrastructure, facilities, and logistics capabilities. Beyond aviation, the development is positioned as a multi-sector investment platform aimed at driving economic growth and enhancing Riyadh’s global connectivity.
Commenting on the partnership, Eng. Al-Otaibi said the collaboration reflects Ajdan’s commitment to developing integrated destinations that meet global standards. He noted that the company intends to deliver innovative solutions that create sustainable value for the airport while enhancing the visitor experience.
KSIA Acting CEO Marco Mejia added that the series of partnerships announced reflects the airport’s ambition to evolve beyond a traditional aviation hub into a fully integrated urban and economic ecosystem. He highlighted the role of leading national developers in delivering high-quality projects that generate sustainable economic impact and strengthen the airport’s position as a key investment destination.
The agreement forms part of Ajdan’s broader strategy to expand strategic partnerships and develop sustainable urban and commercial destinations that support economic growth and improve quality of life across Saudi Arabia.
